Man booked for posting his wife’s photograph, phone number in social media

Madurai District Police have booked one M. Ganeshkumar of Pothumbu on charges of posting photographs of his estranged wife and her sister in social media along with their phone numbers.

The police said that the complainant was married to Ganeshkumar for 15 years.

However, the husband, who was a habitual consumer of alcohol, used to beat her up since marriage.

Unable to put up with his physical torture, the woman had left him two months back and was living separately.

Against this background, the husband had posted the photographs. This led to strangers calling the sister in the last two days.

Angered over this issue, the sister had gone to the man’s house and questioned his act.

But, the husband’s mother and two other persons abused them and pushed them out of the house.

Based on the woman’s complaint, the All Women Police Station, Samayanallur, registered a case for threatening the women, for insulting the women’s modesty and under the provisions of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act and provisions of Information Technology Act.
