Lok Sabha to take up SC judges Bill for passing; Congress MPs submit Parliament notices over NEET row, alleged paper leaks and police action during CJP protests
In a move to grant statutory protection to the National Song Vande Mataram., the Centre will likely table the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026. in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday (July 21, 2026). According to the Bill, any act causing obstruction in the singing of the National Song or insulting it in any form would become punishable under law. Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha is scheduled to take up the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, for consideration and passing.

Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury on Tuesday (July 21, 2026) moved an adjournment motion under Rule 267, alleging that several gates of Parliament were sealed and internet services were suspended, preventing MPs from leaving the House to meet citizens protesting nearby. Heavy deployment of armed personnel and barricades created an “unprecedented lockdown of Parliament”, she wrote.
On day 1 of the Monsoon Session, repeated adjournments disrupted Parliament’s proceedings on Monday (July 20, 2026) as Opposition protested in both Houses demanding a discussion on various issues, including the question paper leaks and the Cockroach Janta Party-led protest in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
