Kuruvai Special Package review held in Nagapattinam

A high-level review meeting on the implementation of the Tamil Nadu Government’s 2026 Kuruvai Special Package Scheme was held in Nagapattinam on Wednesday, with officials reviewing the progress of the scheme and directing timely assistance to eligible farmers.

The meeting was chaired by Director of Horticulture and Plantation Crops J. Vijayarani in the presence of Collector K. J. Praveen Kumar.

Addressing officials, Ms. Vijayarani said the State Government sanctioned ₹140.83 crore for the 2026 Kuruvai Special Package comprising ₹77.50 crore for delta districts and ₹63.33 crore for non-delta districts. Under the scheme, farmers adopting direct-seeded and mechanised paddy cultivation were eligible for an incentive of ₹4,000 per acre. For Nagapattinam district, an allocation of ₹1.36 crore was made and distributed among all eligible blocks to facilitate implementation of the scheme.

Earlier, a special inspection team led by Ms. Vijayarani visited paddy fields in Keezhvelur, Thirumarugal, and Thalaignayiru blocks to assess the implementation of the scheme. The team also interacted with farmers to review the distribution of financial assistance and essential agricultural inputs.

Field inspections were also conducted in Thevur, Venmani, Sathiyakudi, and Killukudi villages, where officials examined paddy fields developed under the scheme.

During the review meeting, officials were instructed to ensure that all eligible farmers were enrolled under the scheme and financial assistance was disbursed to beneficiaries without delay.
