The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has stepped up its drive to clear encroachments on footpaths across the city to ensure safe and unobstructed movement for pedestrians.

The campaign is being carried out in all nine MCC zones.

In Zone 7, civic workers cleared encroachments where footpaths had been occupied by businesses selling used wooden frames, doors, windows and other materials.

While several traders had reportedly removed their materials before the MCC launched the operation, making the exercise easier. However, the civic body proceeded with the drive against those who continued to occupy the footpaths despite being served notices.

In Zone 2, the anti-encroachment drive covered New Kantharaj Urs Road, Nanju Malige Road and Gopalaswamy Road. The operation was also carried out on parts of Ashoka Road in Zone 4 as the MCC continued its citywide effort to reclaim public footpaths from encroachments.
