Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has awarded a ₹91.6-crore contract to Siemens Limited for the communication systems as part of the second phase of the Kochi metro.

The contract is one of the key system packages required for the operation of the Phase-II corridor. The agreement was signed on Tuesday (July 21, 2026) by Johnson T.C., chief engineer, KMRL, and Amit Bhardwaj and Udayaditya Pathak on behalf of Siemens Limited, according to a release.

The contract covers the installation of the communication systems that will enable the smooth operation of the metro. These include passenger announcement systems, digital information displays, CCTV surveillance, emergency communication facilities, fibre-optic connectivity, access control systems, office automation, networks, and cyber security measures, it said.
