Kochi Corporation seeks revised pact to allow resumption of work on Brahmapuram biomedical plant
The Kochi Corporation is seeking a revised agreement to restart construction on the 20-tonne capacity biomedical waste treatment plant at Brahmapuram. Work has been halted for a month following a stop memo issued by the civic body over consent disputes.
The Kochi Corporation has initiated discussions to revise the existing pact regarding the biomedical treatment facility at Brahmapuram. The move is aimed at resolving legal and administrative hurdles that have kept the project in a state of limbo.
Construction activities for the plant, which is designed to handle approximately 20 tonnes of waste, were formally halted around one month ago. The Corporation issued a stop memo after it was determined that the private agency had commenced work without obtaining necessary clearance from the civic body.
Officials are currently reviewing the terms of the agreement to ensure all regulatory requirements are met before allowing the resumption of onsite activities. The facility is considered a critical component of the region's waste management infrastructure. Source: The Hindu
