World number 10 PV Sindhu delivered a clinical performance in her opening match, defeating world number 37 Lin Hsiang Ti with a scoreline of 21-14, 21-11. The 2019 world champion maintained control throughout the contest to secure her spot in the round of 16.
In the mixed doubles category, the Indian pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto also progressed after a successful opening encounter. Their victory adds to India's positive start at the BWF Super 750 tournament held in Yokohama.
