IOC, BPCL, HPCL Intensify Fuel Quality Inspections Across Petrol Pumps
India's major state-run oil marketing companies have launched a nationwide crackdown on fuel adulteration and quantity discrepancies. Indian Oil Corporation, BPCL, and HPCL are deploying specialized teams to conduct surprise inspections at thousands of retail outlets.

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) reported conducting nearly 10,000 surprise inspections and over 8,500 quality tests at its retail outlets during a single week. These operations involve hundreds of specialized audit teams checking for fuel density, accuracy of dispensing units, and the integrity of storage tanks to ensure consumer protection.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) have similarly intensified their monitoring protocols across their respective networks. The coordinated effort aims to verify that the quality of petrol and diesel sold at the pump aligns with strict Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) norms.
The oil marketing companies are utilizing automated retail systems and real-time monitoring to complement physical site visits. These measures are designed to mitigate risks of unauthorized fuel blending and to maintain public trust in the petroleum distribution infrastructure across the country.
