An Indian national has been sentenced to prison in Singapore after attempting to steal a high-value diamond from a jewelry store. The man was apprehended after he tried to switch a genuine gemstone worth over $150,000 with a glass replica.
Mangroliya Manojkumar Kurjibhai, a 30-year-old Indian national, was sentenced to jail for his role in an attempted diamond theft at a jewelry store in Singapore's Chinatown. The defendant reportedly visited the store under the pretense of being a customer interested in purchasing premium stones.
During the viewing process, Kurjibhai used a sleight-of-hand technique to swap a genuine round-cut diamond, valued at approximately $154,000, with a synthetic replica. The suspicious behavior was quickly identified by the store staff, who alerted authorities before the suspect could leave the premises.
