Panel formed to select Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights chief

The Kerala government has constituted a three-member committee for selecting the chairperson of the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

The committee includes Minister for Women and Child Development Bindhu Krishna; Women and Child Development Special Secretary Sheeba George; and Law Secretary K.G. Sanal Kumar.

The term of incumbent chairperson K.V. Manoj Kumar will end on August 17. This is his second term. He was first selected chairperson in June 2020. His second stint began on August 18, 2023.

The Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights came into being on June 3, 2013. It comprises a chairperson and six members, of which at least two have to be women.

The term of four members will end in March next year, a government order said.
