India supports UN membership for Palestine, says MEA
India has reaffirmed its official support for Palestine's bid for full membership in the United Nations. The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized the nation's long-standing position during a high-level coordination meeting.
Sripriya Ranganathan, a Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs, formally stated India’s position during a ministerial meeting of the Palestine Donor Group. The meeting, which took place in Brussels on July 13, served as a platform for international partners to discuss fiscal and developmental support for the Palestinian Authority.
During the proceedings, India reiterated its commitment to a two-state solution, advocating for an independent and sovereign state of Palestine. The Indian representative highlighted that such a resolution remains the only viable path toward sustainable peace and stability in the Middle East region.
The ministry also noted that India's support extends beyond diplomatic gestures to include ongoing developmental assistance and capacity-building projects. This stance aligns with India’s historical foreign policy regarding the Palestinian cause within the framework of international law. Source: MEA
