BJP will lay siege to KRS reservoir if water is not released for standing crops, warns Ashok
The BJP has threatened to lay siege to the Krishnaraj Sagar reservoir if the Karnataka state government does not release water for standing crops. Leader of the Opposition R. Ashok also demanded an urgent all-party meeting to address the ongoing Cauvery water dispute with Tamil Nadu.

R. Ashok, speaking on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party, issued a formal warning to the state government regarding the depletion of water resources for agricultural use. He stated that the party would lead a protest at the KRS reservoir site if immediate action is not taken to safeguard local farmers' interests.
During a press briefing, Ashok emphasized that the government must prioritize the needs of standing crops in Karnataka before considering downstream obligations. He criticized the current administration for its management of the crisis and called for transparency in water level reporting.
In addition to the protest threat, the BJP leader called for a consultative approach involving all political stakeholders. He urged the Chief Minister to convene an all-party meeting to formulate a unified strategy regarding the sharing of Cauvery water with Tamil Nadu. Source: PTI
