Amaravati emerging as liveable city, education hub, say Ministers after review

Ministers of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday (July 23, 2026) expressed satisfaction over the pace of construction works in Amaravati after inspecting key infrastructure projects in the capital city, saying that the development reflected the government’s commitment to building a world-class administrative and residential hub.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana, Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar and Social Welfare Minister Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy reviewed the progress of roads, government buildings, iconic towers, residential quarters for gazetted and non-gazetted officers, and accommodation for MLAs and MLCs. During the visit, Mr. Narayana briefed the other Ministers on the ongoing construction works.

Addressing the media, Mr. Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy thanked the farmers who pooled their lands for the capital city and said Amaravati was shaping into an excellent and highly livable city. He said the government was also developing the proposed Quantum Valley project to give the capital global recognition. The Minister added that the first diamond-shaped section of the iconic towers had been completed and construction was expected to reach 12 floors by December. He also expressed confidence that an international airport would come up in the region.

Mr. Gottipati Ravi Kumar said Amaravati’s development was possible because of the sacrifices made by farmers. He alleged that former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had initially supported a large capital but later created confusion through the three-capitals proposal, and invited him to witness the ongoing development. He said Amaravati would also emerge as a major education hub.
