A female actor, who is embroiled in a controversy over her interfaith marriage after becoming viral during the Kumbh Mela, has moved the Ernakulam Central police station in Kerala with a fresh request seeking protection. The woman visited the station with her counsel and submitted a written request on Sunday (July 19, 2026).

In her complaint, she has reportedly accused her father of taking away her passport and withdrawing nearly ₹10 lakh from her bank account. She said the passport was required to prove her age before a court in Madhya Pradesh in a case in which her husband is booked for charges including kidnapping, child marriage, and offences under the SC/ST Act.

The woman informed the police that she is currently residing in Ernakulam.

Last week, the Kerala High Court had vacated the order providing police protection to the woman. The State informed the court that the woman and her husband, an actor, who are wanted by the Madhya Pradesh Police, remained unreachable after repeated attempts by the police to locate them.

The court then directed the police to provide protection if the woman approached them and gave her request in writing. The woman had moved the High Court in June after allegedly receiving a threat to her life.

The Ernakulam Central police said they would take appropriate action on the woman’s plea as per the instructions from the higher officials.
