Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma personally supervised the destruction of seized narcotics worth an estimated ₹472 crore. During the high-profile event, a road roller was used to physically crush the various packages of illegal substances in front of officials and media representatives.

The inventory of destroyed drugs consisted of 39.068 kg of morphine, 79.770 kg of opium, 58.877 kg of heroin, and 0.0471 kg of cocaine. Additionally, the operation disposed of a significant quantity of cannabis, totaling approximately 37,796.34 kg, which had been recovered in various law enforcement operations across the region.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the public disposal aims to send a strong message regarding the state's zero-tolerance policy toward drug trafficking. The event marks one of the largest single-day drug disposal operations conducted by the Assam government to date. Source: NDTV.
