‘Varanasi’: SS Rajamouli reveals glimpse of Priyanka Chopra’s character from Mahesh Babu starrer

The makers of Varanasirevealed two looks of Priyanka Chopra Jonas from the highly anticipated movie. Directed by SS Rajamouli, the pan-Indian film stars Mahesh Babu in the lead.

On the occasion of Priyanka’s birthday, Rajamouli took to social media to reveal a glimpse of the actor, who essays the character Mandakini. “Grace when she smiles, fire when she doesn’t,” wrote the director, while sharing two stills of Priyanka from the movie.

In one poster, the actor is seen in an intense avatar. Sporting a black outfit, Priyanka appears stylish. In another poster, the actor is seen as a joyful individual, against an epic backdrop of misty blue-grey mountains. Giraffes and zebras are also seen in the background. The actor is jumping with joy, with arms stretched wide.

Varanasi, produced by SS Durga Arts and Showing Business, is set to hit the screens on April 07, 2027. Prithviraj Sukumaran essays the role of the antagonist in the movie.

Meanwhile, the makers revealed a glimpse of Mahesh Babu from the movie in November, 2025. In a grand event, the ferocious first look of Mahesh Babu was unveiled. The actor, riding a bull, appeared like a blood-streaked warrior, weilding a trident.

On January 30, 2026, the makers shared an interesting poster announcing the movie's release date. The poster showed a meteor slamming the Earth, hinting at an apocalyptic situation. Billed as a “globetrotter’, the movie is touted to blend a cosmic disaster with ancient Indian mythology. 

Meanwhile, Priyanka is currently working on Reset, a survival thriller starring Matt Smukler. Written by Jordan Rawlins, the movie is set to begin production in August, 2026. According to Deadline, “Reset follows a woman (Chopra) who wakes up in the middle of the wilderness, days from civilization, with no memory of how she got there, finding that her only chance at survival is to trust a charming stranger (Orlando Bloom) — who may not be who he says he is.”
