Tamil Nadu’s merchandise exports rise to US$58.95 billion in 2025-26: Union Commerce Minister

Tamil Nadu remained the country’s third-largest exporting State for the third consecutive year since the financial year 2023-24, with exports valued at US$58.95 billion in 2025-26, the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on Tuesday.

Responding to a starred question in Parliament by G. Selvam and Rani Srikumar, Lok Sabha Members from Kancheepuram and Tenkasi, respectively, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said Tamil Nadu accounted for 33.38% of India’s exports of motor vehicles and cars, 23.13% of textiles and allied products, 41.63% of electronics, 35.59% of leather and leather manufactures, and 16.66% of engineering goods in the financial year 2025-26. Tamil Nadu’s share in India’s electronics exports increased from 32.84% in 2023-24 to 38% in 2024-25, before rising further to 41.63% in 2025-26.

Tamil Nadu’s overall merchandise exports rose from US$43.22 billion in 2023-24 to US$51.83 billion in 2024-25, before increasing further to US$58.95 billion in 2025-26, according to data furnished by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Mr. Goyal said 94 projects, involving an investment of ₹12,523 crore, had been implemented at Tamil Nadu’s major ports between the fiscals 2014-15 and 2025-26 to strengthen export infrastructure.
