Minister for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) P. Mathan Raja said on Monday that steps have been taken to boost Tamil Nadu’s MSME sector and achieve the top spot in its contribution to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The Minister inspected rapier looms at a New Entrepreneur-cum-Enterprise Development Scheme (NEEDS) beneficiary location at Kakapalayam, printer cluster and a steel company at Erumapalayam, and the Silver Anklet Flatted Factory Complex in Ariyagoundampatti. The Minister participated in a review meeting at the DIC office along with the officials from the DIC, SIDCO, TAICO, Startup TN, and Sagoserve. Later, he inspected the Sagoserve premises on the Salem-Bengaluru National Highway.

The Minister told reporters that Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay was taking various initiatives to make Tamil Nadu a pioneer in all sectors. In particular, the Chief Minister has put forward an ambitious vision of making Tamil Nadu a 1.5 trillion dollar economy by 2036. Only when the MSME sector reaches the next level of development can the State be elevated to a higher level in the economy. The government is providing all necessary facilities to the MSMEs. Tamil Nadu MSMEs contribute 30% to the country’s GDP, ranking second in India. The government is taking all steps to achieve further progress and reach the top position in the coming years, the Minister added.

During the Minister’s inspection, District Revenue Officer R. Ravikumar and officials from the various departments were present.
