Stock Market LIVE Updates, Sensex Today: Sensex Drops 400 Points As Oil Touches $95 Amid US-Iran War

Indian benchmark indices opened on a negative note on Tuesday, following a sharp rise in international oil benchmarks. The Sensex fell by approximately 400 points as market participants reacted to escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East between the US and Iran.

Brent crude oil prices reached a six-week high, surpassing the 95 dollar per barrel threshold. This spike in energy costs has raised concerns over domestic inflation and the potential impact on India's trade deficit, leading to broad-based selling across various sectors.

Technical analysts noted that the Nifty also faced resistance at higher levels, tracking weak global cues and a cautious outlook from international investors. Banking and energy stocks were among the most affected during the morning session as volatility increased across the board.
