Sonam Wangchuk's health worsens on Day 16 of hunger strike, CJP issues ‘SOS' – 'Things looking grimmer by the day'
Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk's physical stability is declining as his hunger strike in New Delhi enters its sixteenth day. Concerns are mounting following an official health update that reveals significant weight loss and fluctuating vital signs.

Environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is leading a protest for Ladakh's constitutional protections, has seen his health deteriorate significantly on Day 16 of his fast. According to updates shared by Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, the situation is becoming increasingly critical as the demonstration continues in the national capital.
Medical records released on Sunday indicate that Wangchuk's blood pressure was measured at 104/66 mm Hg. The activist has also recorded a total weight loss of 7.8 kg since the start of the hunger strike, leading observers to issue an 'SOS' regarding his physical welfare.
The protest aims to secure Sixth Schedule status for Ladakh and statehood for the region. Despite the declining health of the lead activist, the group remains stationed at Ladakh Bhawan, awaiting a response from the Union government regarding their demands. Source: CJP/Abhijeet Dipke via X.
