SC asks Baba Kalyani and Sugandha Hiremath to settle disputes via mediation
The Supreme Court has directed industrialist Baba Kalyani and his sister Sugandha Hiremath to attempt an amicable settlement through mediation. Former Supreme Court judge Justice L Nageswara Rao has been appointed to oversee the resolution of the long-standing family dispute.

The Supreme Court of India has intervened in the ongoing legal conflict between Bharat Forge Chairman Baba Kalyani and his sister Sugandha Hiremath. The bench advised both parties to resolve their differences through a controlled mediation process rather than continued litigation.
To facilitate this resolution, the apex court appointed former Supreme Court judge Justice L Nageswara Rao as the mediator. The court emphasized that this procedure represents a final opportunity for the family members to bury the hatchet and reach a mutual agreement.
The dispute involves complex claims regarding family assets and business interests that have been contested across various legal forums. The mediator is expected to provide a neutral ground for the parties to negotiate terms that could potentially end the multi-year legal battle. Source: Supreme Court of India proceedings.
