RBI Flags Conflict, Monsoon Risks. These May Already Be Pushing Inflation

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has officially raised its inflation projections, citing a combination of external domestic challenges. Geopolitical tensions are cited as a primary driver for increased commodity prices and disrupted trade routes.

In addition to global factors, the central bank is closely monitoring the impact of the monsoon season on food prices. Potential volatility in agricultural output remains a significant risk to the current consumer price index trajectory.

As per the latest updates, the RBI revised its FY27 CPI inflation forecast upward to 5.1 per cent, a notable increase from the previously projected 4.6 per cent. This adjustment reflects the bank's cautious stance on price stability in the coming years.
