Punjab BJP accuses AAP of subverting the entire electoral process in urban local body polls

Punjab BJP State President Kewal Singh Dhillon has formally accused the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of subverting the electoral process during the state's urban local body polls. Dhillon alleged that the ruling administration first manipulated the ward delimitation process to secure a favorable demographic advantage for its own candidates.

Beyond structural changes, the BJP leadership claims that opposition candidates faced direct intimidation intended to force their withdrawal from the race. The party further alleged that nomination papers were forcibly snatched from prospective candidates to prevent them from successfully filing their candidacy within the legal deadlines.

The accusations suggest a coordinated effort by the state government to obstruct the democratic rights of opposition members. These claims reflect growing tensions between the two parties as they compete for control over local governance structures across Punjab.
