Police action on protesters in Delhi condemned

Civil society organisation ‘Save the Nation’ has criticised the Delhi police’s recent action against members of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), who were protesting against alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

In a press statement issued by the organisation’s convenor, Advocate C.J. Rajan, the group condemned the use of lathi-charge, filing of criminal charges, and detention of peaceful youth demonstrators in the national capital, describing the action as a direct assault on constitutional rights and democratic freedom of expression.

Addressing the ongoing controversies surrounding national-level competitive examinations, Mr. Rajan said the recurring paper leaks, administrative failures, and systemic irregularities in tests such as NEET had severely eroded the trust of students and parents across the country. “Protecting democracy is not just about conducting elections; it also means respecting the voice of dissent from the people,” the statement read.

“The Union government must stop suppressing peaceful protests led by students, youth, and civil society organisations, and come forward to address their legitimate demands,” it added.

Holding the central leadership accountable, the organisation demanded that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan immediately step down from his post, accepting full moral and administrative responsibility for the examination lapses.

It also called for the immediate and unconditional release of all detained protesters, including prominent CJP figure Abhijit Dipke and fellow youth activists, along with the complete withdrawal of all criminal cases registered against them.

The statement also extended support to activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is on a hunger strike, and urged the Union Government to fulfill his demands without delay.
