Over 1.7 Lakh People Affected In Assam Floods, Army Launches 'Operation Jal Rahat'
Over 1.7 lakh people across 12 districts in Assam have been displaced or affected by rising floodwaters. In response to the crisis, the Indian Army has mobilized emergency teams under 'Operation Jal Rahat' to conduct rescue missions.
Persistent rainfall has triggered severe flooding in Assam, impacting over 1.7 lakh residents. The deluge has submerged 580 villages and disrupted life across 30 revenue circles, with the Brahmaputra and its tributaries flowing above danger marks in several locations.
To assist the state administration, the Indian Army has launched 'Operation Jal Rahat' to provide immediate relief and evacuation services. Specialized units equipped with rescue boats and medical kits have been deployed to the most severely hit districts to relocate stranded citizens to safer ground.
