Oommen Chandy set the benchmark for public service, says Kerala Minister Anil Kumar
He says the late leader always stood by the most vulnerable sections of society and did everything within his capacity to help improve their lives
Kerala Revenue Minister A.P. Anil Kumar on Sunday (July 19, 2026) said that former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy remained a model of how a public representative should engage with people.
Inaugurating the Oommen Chandy Memorial programme organised by the District Congress Committee (DCC), Mr. Kumar said the late leader always stood by the most vulnerable sections of society and did everything within his capacity to help improve their lives.
He said Oommen Chandy never sought recognition or personal glory for the initiatives he implemented in public life. Instead, he firmly believed that the true essence of public service lay in making a positive difference in the life of at least one person.
“His ideology was rooted in the conviction that genuine public service is measured not by fame or accolades, but by the good one can do for fellow human beings,” the Minister said.
DCC president Adv. Joseph Tajet presided over the function.
