Electronics brand Onida is planning to enter in some new categories by 2027-28 apart from its traditional television, air-conditioner as it plans to make a comeback.

Launching its flagship 100-inch QD Mini LED Television, the CEO and managing director of Ondia Electronics Limited, Gunjan Shrivastava said that the company has also decided to keep its iconic horned devil and will come up with a new advertisement approach for devil in next few months.

“Ondia was a leading face in 80s and 90s but it lost its visibility in the past few decades. Now, we have decided to come back with a new strategy and bran-approach. Our target is to enter in some new categories of consumer electronics to recapture the market. We are planning to grow our sales five to six times in the next two to three years,” said Mr. Shrivastava.

The company is also currently operating two manufacturing units across the country while several contractual units. “We will now take a complete exit from the contractual manufacturing. In this case, the eastern region including West Bengal will play a pivotal role. In every outlet where we are present in Bengal, Onida has 2% to 3% of share.

”Eastern India represents a key growth market for Onida as the company accelerates its next phase of expansion through Onida Rewired. With Kolkata at the heart of this strategy, Onida plans to strengthen its regional footprint by expanding its retail and distribution network, deepening channel partnerships, and delivering enhanced customer experiences. These efforts are part of the company’s broader growth roadmap, which includes expanding its retail footprint to 100 outlets over the next 2-3 years and strengthening its nationwide after-sales service network with over 400 service partners within the next 12 months.

“Onida Rewired marks a defining step in our growth journey - one built on a clear vision to shape a stronger, future-ready consumer technology company. Through premium innovation, elevated customer experiences, and a deeper retail and service footprint, we are accelerating this transformation with purpose. Kolkata and eastern market remain central to this journey, reflecting their strategic importance to our expansion plans. Our focus stays firmly on bringing world-class technology within every consumer reach, while building lasting value for our customers, partners, and stakeholders nationwide,” he said.
