T. N. Health Minister Ma. Subramanian stated that recent reports regarding high-virulence strains in the region are unsubstantiated. The department has been conducting routine surveillance and genome sequencing on positive samples to identify any emerging variants of concern.

Officials noted that while cases are strictly monitored, the clinical severity of recent infections remains low. Most patients are experiencing mild symptoms similar to seasonal influenza, with hospitalization rates remaining stable across the state.

The State Public Health Laboratory is working in coordination with national agencies to maintain a robust testing infrastructure. The government has advised citizens to remain vigilant but stressed there is no cause for immediate alarm based on current scientific data.
