The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that a major portion of the country is currently experiencing weak monsoon conditions. This atmospheric shift is expected to persist over the coming week, resulting in a temporary lull in the typical seasonal precipitation levels seen during this period.

Despite the broader national trend of decreased activity, the state of Uttarakhand remains under a red alert. Local authorities are bracing for heavy to very heavy rainfall spells that could trigger landslides and flash floods in the Himalayan region, contrasting with the drier outlook for neighboring states.

Weather analysts indicate that the monsoon trough has shifted, leading to this uneven distribution of rainfall across the subcontinent. While the northern hill states remain vulnerable, the central and southern plains are likely to see a break in heavy showers until the system strengthens again. Source: IMD
