A leakage has occurred in the pipeline of the Yettinahole Integrated Drinking Water Project near Sakaleshpur, causing concern among local residents and officials. The incident happened during a trial run, leading to high-pressure water flooding the immediate vicinity of the pipeline route.

Reports indicate that the leak left a few acres of agricultural land in the surrounding area inundated, potentially damaging crops. Engineering teams from the Visvesvaraya Jala Nigama Limited (VJNL) were alerted to the site to assess the damage and begin necessary repair work to plug the breach.

The multi-crore Yettinahole project is designed to provide drinking water to parched districts in Karnataka by diverting water from west-flowing streams. This technical failure highlights the ongoing challenges in the project’s infrastructure as it moves toward full operational status. Source: News excerpts.
