Under the proposed system, when a citizen reports a financial fraud or cyber offense via the 1930 national helpline, the operator will simultaneously log the data into both the Karnataka Police IT portal and the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal. This integrated approach ensures that data entered into the state-specific portal automatically generates an e-zero FIR.

A zero FIR allows any police station to register a complaint regardless of the jurisdiction where the crime occurred. By digitizing this process, the state police intend to facilitate immediate action on cybercrimes, which often require rapid intervention to freeze fraudulent transactions and track digital footprints.

The implementation is expected to simplify the legal burden on victims, who previously had to visit physical stations to formalize telephonic complaints. According to the Karnataka State Police, this digital-first strategy will enhance the overall efficiency of the state's cyber response mechanism. Source: Karnataka State Police portal.
