Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Minister of State for the Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh met with Sonam Wangchuk on Tuesday at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. The meeting took place following reports concerning the activist's health after he led a foot march from Leh to Delhi.
Wangchuk and his supporters were previously detained by police at the Delhi border while advocating for the inclusion of Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. The group had been seeking a meeting with top government leadership to discuss their demands for statehood and environmental protections.
Sources indicate that the ministers inquired about Wangchuk's well-being and current medical status during the brief visit. The activist was admitted to the facility for a medical check-up following the conclusion of his protest in the national capital.
