The Indian Ambassador to Oman, Amit Narang, met with a group of distressed Indian women workers currently housed in a shelter in Muscat. During the visit, the envoy listened to grievances regarding non-payment of wages, physical exhaustion, and administrative hurdles preventing their return to India.
This outreach initiative follows recurring reports of exploitation involving domestic staff across several Gulf nations. The Embassy of India has stated it is working closely with Omani authorities to streamline the process of issuing emergency certificates and securing exit permits for those affected.
Officials emphasized that the welfare of the diaspora remains a priority, and the mission is providing necessary medical care and legal counselling. The embassy serves as a critical contact point for workers who often find themselves without valid documentation after fleeing difficult working environments.
