Have India’s top hotel rates peaked? Operators say there’s still room, but not everyone agrees

Industry data reveals that five-star and luxury hotels across India are sustaining a momentum of price hikes, driven by robust domestic demand and a resurgence in international travel. Operators argue that when compared to global gateway cities, Indian luxury rates still offer a relative value proposition that justifies further adjustments.

However, market experts are divided on the sustainability of these increases within major metropolitan areas. Some analysts believe that corporate travel budgets and standard luxury tiers in cities like Mumbai and Delhi may be reaching a peak, potentially leading to a stabilization of average daily rates in the near term.

In contrast, the leisure and resort segment is viewed as having additional headroom for growth. The limited supply of high-end inventory in popular vacation destinations allows operators to maintain aggressive pricing strategies as travelers prioritize experiential stays.
