Government Bars Communication Infra Providers From Sharing Data Outside India
The Indian government has issued a notification prohibiting communication infrastructure providers from transferring data outside of the country's borders. This new restriction applies broadly to cloud-based networks, mobile tower operators, and satellite gateway services.
In a move to strengthen national data security, the Ministry of Communications has implemented strict regulations barring infrastructure entities from sharing data with international entities. The scope of the order includes providers involved in cloud-based telecom services, mobile towers, and satellite gateways. Under these rules, all operational data generated or managed by these entities must remain within domestic territory to prevent unauthorized foreign access or surveillance.
