Gescom Chairman directs officials to improve power infrastructure in Jevargi

Praveen Patil Harwal, Chairman of the Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company (Gescom), on Thursday directed officials to expedite ongoing power infrastructure works in Jevargi taluk, ensure uninterrupted quality power supply and strengthen preventive maintenance to minimise disruptions.

He was speaking at a review meeting held here on Thursday. He reviewed the progress of ongoing works and instructed the officials to complete all projects within the stipulated timeframe.

Mr. Harwal directed the officials to undertake door-to-door verification of beneficiaries under the Gruha Jyothi scheme in accordance with the State government’s instructions and ensure uninterrupted, quality power supply to consumers.

The Chairman also instructed the officials to intensify the collection of pending electricity dues, disconnect power supply to consumers with unpaid bills in accordance with the rules, and take preventive measures to curb unauthorised electricity connections and reduce transformer failures.

Observing that electricity demand was increasing in several areas, he told the officials to submit proposals for establishing additional substations wherever required in the public interest, over and above those already sanctioned.

Stressing the need for mandatory monthly preventive maintenance of the power distribution network, Mr. Harwal asked the officials not to compromise on power supply to the farming community. He also instructed them to improve the company’s revenue through efficient recovery of outstanding dues.

“Transformers required for emergency works have already been allocated to all Operation and Maintenance divisions. The officials concerned should ensure their prompt utilisation to restore power supply whenever required,” he said.

Prior to the meeting, Mr. Harwal inspected rural and urban areas of Jevargi taluk, where he identified several dilapidated and hazardous electricity poles and instructed them to replace them immediately to ensure public safety.

He also visited the 33/11 kV substation at Koodi Darga in Jevargi taluk and reviewed the power distribution system, control room and other technical operations.
