Fresh Faces, Women Likely To Get Berths In Karnataka Cabinet Expansion
Karnataka's Congress leadership has traveled to New Delhi to consult with the party's central high command regarding the upcoming state cabinet expansion. The reshuffle is expected to prioritize the induction of woman legislators and first-time ministers to balance regional and social demographics.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and KPCC leaders arrived in the national capital on Tuesday for high-level deliberations. These meetings aim to finalize names for the vacant cabinet slots while addressing internal party interests and geographic representation across the state.
Party sources indicate that the leadership is focused on introducing 'fresh faces' to the ministry to foster new leadership within the administration. There is also a significant emphasis on increasing female representation in the cabinet to fulfill electoral promises and strengthen the party's inclusivity profile.
The expansion comes at a sensitive time as the state government seeks to streamline governance and address administrative priorities. Once the central leadership provides the necessary clearance, the new ministers are expected to be sworn in at the Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru.
