The Ernakulam district panchayat has officially initiated steps to develop a comprehensive geriatric centre aimed at improving healthcare accessibility for the elderly. This project marks a significant expansion of public health infrastructure in the region, focusing on the specific medical needs of senior citizens.

As part of the proposed facilities, the centre will feature a specialized inpatient physiotherapy department. This unit is intended to provide long-term rehabilitative care for patients recovering from age-related physical ailments or surgical procedures.

In addition to physical therapy, the hub will include a modern dialysis centre to support patients suffering from chronic kidney diseases. The district panchayat aims to create a centralized location where multiple critical treatments can be accessed simultaneously under government management.
