e-NAM facility launched at Seithur to help farmers directly sell coconuts to traders
This facility will bring in transparent transaction, remove middlemen and fetch maximum price for farm produce, says Virudhunagar Collector

Virudhunagar Collector N. O. Sukhaputra inaugurated the new facility and said it would hep the farmers get fair remuneration for their produce without any middlemen. e-NAM system would ensure transparent transaction through e-auction.
“This will help the farmers get the maximum price for coconut as traders from various districts and also from other States would participate in the auction based on the market position,” he said.
The e-market was set up at Seithur based on the demands from coconut producers of Rajapalayam, Srivilliputtur and Watrap.
The farmers can also market quaity produce and expand their business opportunities. They could also get to know about market-related information, auction details and prevailing price of their produce instantly.
The biggest advantage of the facility will be the absence of intervention of middlemen. This will ensure transparent process of sale and also safe and expedited transactions. The money would be deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers.
The farmers income would increase and marketing of farm products would get modernised, he added.
Joint Director (Agriculture), Mohandass Sowmiyan, Deputy Director (Central schemes), Nachiyarammal, and farmers were present.
