Corrections and Clarifications — July 6, 2026

The fifth paragraph of an article, “Inside India’s language conundrum” (‘Ground Zero’ page, July 4, 2026), referred to English “being one of the 22 official languages in the Eight Schedule of the Constitution”. While English is an official language of the Union under the constitutional provisions relating to official languages, it is not included in the Eighth Schedule.
