Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday inspected the new fleet of Thalli Bidda Express vehicles, which are being introduced to strengthen transport services for women and children, at his camp office.

According to an official release, Mr. Naidu reviewed the vehicle design, safety features, special amenities and branding. He approved the branding designs, saying they effectively reflected the government’s welfare programmes.

The Health Department officials informed the Chief Minister that the vehicles would be deployed across the State after the branding and stickers were completed. The service is expected to benefit about 2.75 lakh women every year.

The Thalli Bidda Express vehicles are used to transport women, their newborns and one attendant from government hospitals to their homes. They are also deployed to ferry high-risk pregnant women to hospitals for medical check-ups.

The new fleet is equipped with GPS for real-time monitoring and features air conditioning, footrests, first-aid kits and fire safety equipment.
