Centre plans 83.61 lakh PNG connections in A.P. by 2032, says Suresh Gopi

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has authorised 10 areas in Andhra Pradesh for the development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) network with Minimum Work Programme (MWP) target of 83,61,290 domestic PNG connections to be completed by March 2032, said Suresh Gopi, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, on Thursday.
In a written reply to the question posed by Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, Mr. Suresh Gopi said, “As of May 31, 2026, nearly 2,98,111 households across A.P. had been provided with PNG connections. Nearly 2,75,517 PNG connections had been provided across the State by March 31, 2024.”
The Union Minister of State revealed that the highest number of connections—1,15,476—were provided in East Godavari district, followed by 85,372 connections in Krishna district, 51,107 in West Godavari, 6,010 in Kadapa, 5,463 in Visakhapatnam, 5,071 in Anantapur, 3,932 in Chittoor, and 3,086 in SPSR Nellore district.
He further said that no connections had been registered in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Guntur, Kurnool, and Prakasam districts by that date. Responding to the MP’s query, he stated that PNG connections were provided to 6,894 and 14,029 new households during the 2024-25 and 2025-26 periods respectively.
