"Can't Ignore Concerns": Delhi High Court Proposes To Shift Sonam Wangchuk To Medanta Hospital
The Delhi High Court has suggested moving Ladakhi activist Sonam Wangchuk from a government facility to Medanta Hospital for medical care. The court emphasized that the health concerns raised regarding Wangchuk's condition cannot be overlooked during his detention.
The Delhi High Court on Thursday proposed shifting climate activist Sonam Wangchuk from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. The proposal came during a hearing regarding Wangchuk's health status and his recent detention by the authorities.
A bench comprising Justice Prathiba M. Singh and Justice Amit Sharma noted that the court cannot ignore the medical concerns raised by the petitioner's counsel. The judges suggested that moving the activist to a private multi-specialty facility would ensure comprehensive medical attention.
Wangchuk was detained at the Delhi border while leading a march from Leh to the capital to demand constitutional safeguards for Ladakh. He had recently been participating in a hunger strike to draw attention to his cause. Source: Delhi High Court
