Bank of India marks ‘Kisan Diwas’ with ₹117 cr. loan rollout

Bank of India, Visakhapatnam Zone, celebrated ‘Kisan Diwas 2026’ initiative. The annual event, which commemorates the bank’s nationalisation day on July 19, was organised across Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, and Tadepalligudem, Nikesh Kumar Sinha Zonal Manager of the bank said on Wednesday.

“The response was good, and our overall business was higher than the previous year,” Mr. Sinha told The Hindu. Established in 1906, the 120-year-old financial institution continues to hold a prominent position among the nation’s major commercial banks, he added.

During the event, the zone disbursed loans amounting to ₹117.24 crore and distributed sanction letters worth ₹115.00 crore to beneficiaries. Bank officials highlighted that the zone currently maintains an agricultural business portfolio of ₹6,377 crore, catering to over 3.14 lakh farmers across 11 districts in Andhra Pradesh.

Progressive farmers were felicitated and encouraged to adopt modern technology, Kisan Credit Cards, and crop insurance schemes to ensure sustainable growth.
