Assam activist leading protests against Kaziranga luxury hotels detained

Guwahati police have detained activist Pranab Doley in connection with ongoing demonstrations against the construction of premium hotel projects near the Kaziranga National Park. The activist has been leading a movement expressing concerns over the environmental impact and land rights associated with the luxury tourism developments.

Official reports state that Doley has been booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Following his initial detention in the state capital, law enforcement officials indicated that he would be transferred to the custody of the Bokakhat police in eastern Assam for further proceedings.

The protests have gained momentum as local groups argue that the large-scale hotel projects could disrupt the delicate ecosystem of the tiger reserve and affect the livelihoods of indigenous communities. The police have not yet released a detailed statement regarding the specific incidents that led to the activist's booking.
