"Allow Me To Leave Hospital To Join Parliament March": Sonam Wangchuk
Detained activist Sonam Wangchuk has requested leave from the hospital to join a peaceful march toward the Indian Parliament. The climate campaigner is currently leading a group of Ladakhi protesters seeking constitutional protections and statehood.
Education reformist and activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was detained by police at the Delhi border, has appealed to authorities to allow him to exit the hospital and resume his march toward Parliament. Wangchuk is leading approximately 150 protesters from Ladakh who walked to the capital to demand inclusion under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
The activists were detained earlier this week for violating prohibitory orders in Delhi, with Wangchuk subsequently being moved to a medical facility. He remains committed to the 'Delhi Chalo' movement, which seeks to secure administrative autonomy and environmental safeguards for the Himalayan region.
Authorities have maintained the restrictions citing security concerns in the national capital. Supporters of the movement continue to call for any dialogue between the protest leadership and the central government to address the long-standing demands of the Ladakhi people. Source: NDTV
