Adityanath flags environmental concerns, launches 35-crore sapling drive
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched a significant reforestation initiative aiming to plant 35 crore saplings across the state. This drive continues a decade-long environmental strategy to bolster green cover and address ecological challenges.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the launch of a new environmental campaign, emphasizing the urgent need to address climate concerns through large-scale planting. The initiative follows the 'Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam' campaign, which saw approximately 5 crore saplings planted on June 5, 2024, to mark World Environment Day.
Official figures indicate that the state has achieved substantial progress in its reforestation efforts, having planted more than 35 crore saplings in the previous year alone. This contributes to a cumulative total of 242 crore saplings planted across Uttar Pradesh over the last nine years.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the ongoing drive aligns with a broader national vision to improve biodiversity and sustainable development. The government intends to involve various departments and local communities to ensure the survival and growth of the newly planted trees. Source: CM's Office Statement.
