9 Indian Fishermen Arrested By Sri Lankan Navy
The Sri Lankan Navy has apprehended nine Indian fishermen for allegedly poaching in its territorial waters. The group was detained along with their trawler and handed over to local authorities for legal processing.
Nine Indian fishermen were arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy during a routine patrol aimed at curbing illegal fishing activities in the region. The incident occurred near Mannar, where the authorities intercepted an Indian trawler suspected of crossing the international maritime boundary line.
Following the apprehension, both the fishermen and their vessel were brought to the naval base for preliminary investigation. The Navy confirmed that the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to protect the livelihoods of local fishing communities and preserve marine resources.
