320 trainee APSP constables explore Coringa mangroves in Kakinada district
A large cohort of 320 trainee constables from the Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP) recently undertook an educational visit to the Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary. The excursion focused on environmental conservation and the vital role of mangrove ecosystems in coastal protection.
A total of 320 trainee constables from the 6th Battalion of the Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP) participated in a coastal field trip to the Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary near Kakinada. The visit was organized to provide the future officers with firsthand knowledge of the region's unique biodiversity and the importance of forest preservation.
During the tour, forest officials and instructors briefed the trainees on the vital role mangroves play in preventing coastal erosion and mitigating the impact of natural disasters like cyclones and tsunamis. The group explored the boardwalks and boat routes, observing various species of birds and the complex root systems of the mangrove trees.
The training exercise is part of a broader curriculum designed to sensitize police personnel to environmental laws and the protection of natural resources. By engaging with these ecosystems, the constables are better prepared to handle situations involving environmental crimes or disaster management in coastal zones. Source: The Hindu.
