Police in Ayodhya have confirmed the arrests of three local men identified as Lavkush Nishad, Jitendra Nishad, and Rajkumar Nishad. The individuals were apprehended following reports of them consuming meat and alcoholic beverages while traveling on a boat across the Sarayu River.

Authorities intervened based on the argument that such activities undermine the faith and sanctity associated with the river, which is regarded as holy by millions of pilgrims. The incident took place within the vicinity of major religious landmarks in the city.

The suspects have been charged under relevant sections of the law pertaining to the disturbance of public order and hurting religious sentiments. The police have emphasized that strict decorum must be maintained in the holy city's riverfront areas.
